4p-8p 4 Hours Interned

Objective #2:
2.  Will verbally demonstrate knowledge of tests included in a CMP and CBC/diff including abnormalities, what disease process they might indicate and possible signs and symptoms that a patient might demonstrate given these values.

In my last post I talked about how I got the chance to look at a couple Sister's lab results and guesstimate diagnoses and reasons as to why they had abnormal levels. Overall, it went pretty well and I had a good idea about what was going on. Now on these lab results, there was another component I was not familiar with. This info is the next part of this objective in which I will be talking about. What we have gone over the last couple weeks were the components to a Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP). The next part of this objective will be on a Complete Blood Count/diff panel. Because I am required to blog twice a week, I really do not want to start this part of my objective on the 2nd blog of the previous week. I know, kind of ADD in that sense lol! But starting week 10, I will be blogging about the Complete Blood Count/diff panel. This was the other portion of the Sister's lab results I was not familiar with. So hopefully over the next couple weeks in which I will be telling you guys about a CBC, I will be able to understand and evaluate a CBC panel when presented! As for the days I interned of the later to this week, I just reviewed more lab results CMP's, made more sense of them, tied together similarities, and have done some research for the CBC lab and results I will later be talking about. I also found out that the Sister's have their CBC done every 6 months, January and July unless they have some type of new change in diagnoses, medical treatment, or any change in their medical status. So I will either be reviewing someones values from January or someone who has a particular diagnosis resulting in abnormal values. So I am looking forward to and think it will be pretty interesting tying everything from the diagnosis, medication change, and CMP. Kind of sad in the sense the only reason why it's changing is because something is wrong, but it's all a part of life. Like I said in previous posts, its gonna be dry, but cant make this stuff too exciting! So bare with me, and we will get through it!
